Graftologer™
The Graftologer™ consists of an instrument set for harvesting middle third patellar tendon (BTB) grafts with cylindrical bone blocks and harvesting cylindrical bone blocks when creating the tibial tunnel for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. The procedure can be performed entirely manually or partly using a power tool. These instruments are used together with the Graftologer Reamer Bits, which are sterile, single use, hollow reamers.
Indications
The Graftologer is recommended for harvesting middle third patellar tendon grafts with cylindrical bone blocks.
Features and benefits
- Patellar and tibial guides clamp to bones, ensure controlled graft harvesting in a quick and accurate manner.
- Harvesting procedure saves time in graft preparation, no reshaping or further sizing of bone blocks required.
- Smooth hemi-cylindrical void left in the patella significantly reduces the risk of patella fracture.
- Cylindrical thin walled reamers core the ACL tunnels to provide cylinders of bone that can be used to replenish the voids left at the BTB harvest site.
- Cylindrical reamers reduce the amount of bone debris entering the joint on drill break through on the tibial plateau.
- Known diameter of graft bone blocks, so can plan ahead before operation.
- The smooth surface of the bone blocks of the graft ensures easy passage through the bone tunnels.
- Cylindrical bone blocks on the graft fill the tunnels without gaps, providing ideal geometry for all transverse pin and interference screw fixation methods.
- Increased plug-to-tunnel wall surface area maximises the potential for a faster and greater biological anchorage to occur.
- Cylindrical bone blocks improve fixation strength compared with triangular or trapezoidal bone blocks.
